PRESS RELEASE FROM EAST HAMPTON TOWN AND SAG HARBOR VILLAGE JUSTICE COURTS IN RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19

ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE “AT RISK PERSONS” WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO ENTER INTO COURTFACILITIES AND ARE ASKED TO CONTACT THE COURTHOUSE TO SEEK ADJOURNMENTS OF THEIR MATTERS.

COURT STAFF WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH AN ADJOURNMENT DATE FOR YOUR MATTERS.

At Risk Persons Are:

-any person who has been in the following countries within the last 14 days:
CHINA, SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN, ITALY, IRAN, or other countries the Centers for DiseaseControl identifies as having “widespread sustained” or “sustained community” spread ofthe coronavirus or COVID-19, or

-any person who resides or has had close contact with anyone who has been in one of the countries listed above within the last 14 days, or

-any person who has been directed to self-quarantine, isolate or self-monitor for COVID- 19 by any doctor, hospital or health agency; or

-any person diagnosed with, or had had close contact with anyone diagnosed with COVID-19; or

-any person with flu-like symptoms If you are feeling sick please STAY HOME.

THE COURT IS ENCOURAGING INDIVIDUALS TO UTILIZE THEIR ONLINE PAYMENT OPTIONS TO PAY FINES. Contact the Courthouse for more information.

In addition, the Court is asking that those individuals who do come to the court facilities on court business do not bring other visitors with them. The Court is requesting that attorneys ask their clients to refrain from bringing unnecessary parties to the court facilities.

Requests for adjournments may be made by phoning, emailing or faxing the Justice Court. Should there be any questions, the public is encouraged to contact the Court directly. If you are unable to speak to a clerk, leave a message and someone will return your all.

As this situation changes, additional information and protocols may be put into place. The East Hampton Town and Sag Harbor Village Justice Courts appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the public during these times.
